On the 4th and 5th of October representatives from the office of the Parliamentary Ombudsmen in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden met in Stockholm to exchange experiences and ideas.
– To some extent, the ombudsmen face different tasks and challenges, but there are many essential common questions where we all need to learn from each other, says Chief Parliamentary Ombudsman Elisabeth Rynning, who hosted the meeting.
The programme included, among other things, methods and principles on how to conduct inspections, work on human rights and the sharing of information concerning the ombudsmen’s judgments and decisions. The meeting is a part of a continuing Baltic-Nordic exchange. Next year the ombudsmen will meet in Latvia.
