Criticism of the Public Transport Committee in Region Örebro County for slow processing of applications for mobility service permits

Summary of the decision: An enquiry by the Parliamentary Ombudsman has investigated processing times for mobility service cases in Region Örebro County. The investigation revealed that in many cases it took five months or more to process an application for a mobility service permit. According to the responsible committee, the long processing times were mainly due to understaffing in relation to the influx of cases. The Parliamentary Ombudsman states that this is not an acceptable reason for the delay in processing individual cases, and that cases of the kind in question are of great significance to those affected.

The Parliamentary Ombudsman criticises the committee for failing to process mobility service permit cases with the promptness required by Section 9 of the Administrative Procedure Act (SFS 2017:900).
